CREATIVE BRIEF
After being given a random era of artistic movement, I needed to create a poster that accurately depicted the style and history of the era. I was assigned postmodernism.
PROCESS
Before I could make a poster based on Postmodernism, I had to research the era to learn the history and meaning behind the art. Now, understanding the climate of society at this time and artists’ inspiration and intention in their art, I made some mood boards.
I was going for a Pop Art, graphic type of feeling. Postmodernism was all about unhinged design and breaking the mold, so that’s what I wanted to incorporate in my poster. I used bright splotches of color, mixed patterns, and layered the elements of my design. To represent the message of postmodernism in history I included text calling, “Revive Expression, Truth is a Lie.”
